Using WADI Indicator To Enhance Effectiveness Of Solar Disinfection (SODIS) For Purification Of Drinking Water

Solar Disinfection (SODIS) technology is apparently used for purification of drinking water among the rural poor communities of Uganda. Evidence of technology application is at the water school in Kisoro. ATC profiled the technology and found it to have the potential to provide a remedy for enhancing the safety of drinking water without reliance on wood fuel, expensive electricity and gas. This technology has largely remained unknown in most parts of the country. Effectiveness of SODIS can be comprised during rain season, due to fluctuations in sunshine and use of old scatched bottles. The ATC provides a guide to using and enhancing effectiveness of SODIS technology.  For training and guide information please contact the Centre.
